College Counseling

In the spirit of Mid-Pacific's Mission Statement of preparing students to become compassionate and responsible lifelong learners and global citizens, the goal of the College Counseling Department is to provide our students with information and opportunities to be successful in their post-secondary journey.

As a college preparatory school, Mid-Pacific supports students in preparing for college, the college search process, and the application process. Three full-time, dedicated college counselors provide the following services:

  • The College Counseling Advisory Program meets with each grade level 8-10 times per year. The developmental program starts with freshmen identifying personality traits, strengths and interests, and encouraging students to engage in extracurricular activities at school and in the community. Sophomores will focus on careers and potential college majors based on their strengths and interests. The junior year moves to college research, ending in the senior year with college application support.
  • The Lunch with College Counseling Series are short sessions focusing on college admission-related topics designed for both students and their parents. Our guest speakers are from the community or college admission officers.
  • Workshops for Juniors and Seniors include test preparation using Khan Academy, application support, the college athletic recruiting process, and essay writing.
  • Individual student counseling assists with the college search and application process. Students are guided in the exploration of majors, academic qualifications, cost, location, size of school, and more.
  • Student and parent grade level specific college counseling workshops and grade level nights address topics including college planning, academics, athletics, and financial aid with guest speakers from colleges.
  • The College Counseling Department coordinates approximately 150-200 college visits to Mid-Pacific. The visits are conducted by college admission officers for our juniors and seniors.
  • The College Counseling Department offers college tours to California and the Pacific Northwest in late May as well as periodic tours to the East Coast and other select states.
